Partner with Jackpack Gear

When people buy survival gear, they’re trusting it with their lives. We take that seriously and partner with suppliers who do.

What We Build

On-body survival, not "somewhere in the pack."

Jackpack Gear builds an integrated system: purpose-built jackets and modular survival kits that are designed to live on the user, not buried in a backpack or trunk.

Patented Jacket Design

  • Converts from full-coverage shell to a secure waist-carry bundle using an adjustable shoulder belt system.
  • Six large pockets and utility loops are sized to carry our Scout, Trekker, and Expedition kits on-body without dangling or restricting movement.
  • Dual-layer, abrasion-resistant fabric and an oversized hood provide real protection in wind, rain, and cold working conditions—not just “lifestyle” weather.

Modular Kit System

Our kits are built around the core tenets of survival: water, shelter, fire, light, signal, with additional depth in medical and navigation at the higher tiers.

Scout Kit – Core survival on your body
Compact, lightweight tools for water, shelter, fire, light, and signal that fit entirely in the jacket.
Trekker Kit – Expanded tools and critical redundancy
Adds repair, cordage, stronger light, and chemical water treatment to strengthen the same core systems.
Expedition Kit – Multi-day self-reliance and navigation
Adds true navigation tools, passive water options, chem-light signaling, and a comprehensive first-aid module.

We aren’t chasing gimmicks. Every component must earn its place by being simple, reliable, and field-effective.

What We Need

Component Systems We Source

We partner with manufacturers and distributors who specialize in durable, proven backcountry and tactical equipment. Typical categories include:

Water

  • Personal filters and purifiers
  • Chemical treatment (chlorination/flocculation)
  • Heavy-duty clear poly bags suitable for transpiration, collection, and storage

Shelter / Heat Management

  • High-quality Mylar emergency blankets and bivy sacks
  • Chemical hand/body warmers with reliable runtimes and documented shelf life

Fire

  • Fire starters and ferro rods
  • Waterproof match cases and stormproof matches
  • Fire-tinder products that work in wet, cold conditions

Light & Signal

  • Compact headlamps and flashlights (impact- and water-resistant, long shelf life)
  • Chem lights (Cyalume-type) with verifiable burn times and storage specs
  • High-output whistles, signal mirrors, and other passive signaling devices

Tools & Repair

  • Compact multi-tools
  • Small-form repair tapes (duct/medic tape rolls)
  • Carabiners and hardware suitable for gear attachment, not climbing life-support

Medical

  • First-aid modules and components that cover real backcountry injuries
  • OTC meds, wound care, PPE, and packaging suitable for long-term storage

Navigation

  • Simple, robust compasses
  • Pace counters/beads and related analog tools

If your products are compact, durable, and designed to work under stress—not just look good in a catalog—we want to talk.

Quality & Testing

Our standards are built around worst-case scenarios, not ideal conditions.

For any component we consider, we look for:

Material and Build Standards

  • Abrasion resistance, impact resistance, water resistance ratings where applicable
  • Documented operating temperature range and shelf life
  • Reliable housing and seals that can withstand long-term storage in a jacket pocket, car, or pack

Data and Documentation

  • Clear specifications (lumens, runtime, IP ratings, chemical composition, expiry dates)
  • Safety data sheets and relevant certifications where applicable
  • Honest performance claims without “inflated” marketing numbers

Field Validation

We test gear in realistic conditions: wet, cold, dirty, tired humans using it in the dark, often with gloves on. We care about:

  • One-handed operation under stress
  • Performance after long storage
  • Failure modes (how it behaves when things go wrong)

If an item can’t be trusted in real backcountry conditions, it does not go into our kits—no matter how appealing it looks on paper.

Partnership Values

Reliability, Safety, Transparency

We view suppliers as long-term partners, not interchangeable line items. In return for high standards, we offer:

Consistency

  • Clear forecasts whenever possible
  • Disciplined reordering and communication about upcoming demand shifts

Safety-first Mindset

  • We will never ask you to cut corners on materials or QA to hit a price point.
  • If a component has a known limitation, we’d rather label it honestly than pretend it doesn’t exist.

Transparency

  • Direct feedback from field use and customer reports
  • Straight answers about why we choose or discontinue a component
  • Respect for your brand—if we use your name, it’s because we trust it

We’re building a reputation based on gear that actually works when it matters. That only happens if our upstream partners operate with the same mindset.
