Spinosaurus Jacket

Description

Meet the softshell that carries itself. Spinosaurus rolls and locks into a clean, secure waist carry using our integrated shoulder-belt system—then pops back to jacket mode in seconds when the weather flips. Available in Ranger Green and Khaki, sizes S–XL.

Materials & build

  • Outer shell: 90% Nylon / 10% Spandex — abrasion- and scratch-resistant, wind-blocking

  • Inner liner: 92% Polyester / 8% Spandex — moisture-wicking, anti-static, comfortable against skin

  • Temperature Range (field-tested): Comfort 65–45°F (18–7°C) with a light base layer or standard clothing; down to ~32°F (0°C) with layering and higher activity.

Carry & storage

  • Large-capacity 6-pocket design: double-sided zip hand pockets, hidden zip chest pockets, and a left-arm zip pocket with ventilation/cooling function

  • Waist Carry System: integrated 1″ adjustable shoulder-belt with mil-spec quick-release hardware; four utility loops for fastening gear when carried at the waist

Ergonomics

  • Extended hem & hip length with elongated sleeves for reach and mobility across hiking, climbing, skiing, commuting, and more

  • Oversized, helmet-compatible hood with three adjustment points (back + both sides) for a dialed seal in wind and drizzle

  • Inner collar: quick-dry, anti-pill fleece, bonded for shape retention; soft against the neck

  • Adjustability: dual drawcords at each side of the hem; adjustable cuff drawcords to tighten and block wind

Craftsmanship
Engineered by Jackpack Gear and crafted in partnership with Emersongear to our patterns, materials, and QC standards.

Survival Kits

Our kits come with everything you need to solve backcountry emergencies—covering water, shelter, fire, light, and signaling—then scale up with the tools, navigation, and medical capability to keep you moving and treated when problems last longer.

Scout Kit
  • Water – LifeStraw Personal Water Filter
Allows you to drink directly from streams, ponds, or containers by removing pathogens to make raw water safer in the field.
  • Shelter – Rescue Essentials Mylar Emergency Blanket
Reflects radiant body heat and cuts wind exposure. Can be used as a wrap, improvised bivy, or ground/roof panel for basic shelter and as a high-visibility marker.
  • Fire – UST BlastMatch + Vaseline cotton balls in Coghlan’s matchbox
One-handed fire starter that works when your hands are cold or injured, paired with petroleum-jelly cotton balls for fast ignition in wet or marginal conditions.
  • Light – Black Diamond Flare emergency headlamp
Compact, long-shelf-life headlamp that keeps your hands free for navigation, first aid, and shelter work after dark. Multiple modes for close work, movement, and emergency signaling.
  • Signal – UST Hear-Me Rescue Whistle + UST StarFlash Micro Signal Mirror
Whistle provides high-intensity audible signaling without voice fatigue; mirror projects a precise visual signal to aircraft or distant ground teams in daylight.

Trekker Kit
  • Scout Kit
Includes all components of the Scout (water, shelter, fire, light, and signal tools).
  • MiniWire carabiner
Lightweight wire-gate carabiner for attaching gear to your jacket’s utility loops, hanging the Mylar blanket as a tarp, clipping light sticks, or creating quick connection points in a shelter or line system.
  • Chlorination–flocculation packets
Chemical treatment that both clarifies and disinfects dirty or silty water. Used with or before the LifeStraw, it improves water quality, protects the filter from heavy sediment, and provides a non-mechanical backup if the filter is damaged or lost (when used as directed).
  • Leatherman Micra (10-tool multitool)
Compact tool for cutting paracord, trimming and shaping tape, handling small hardware, and doing fine field repairs. Also useful for basic first-aid tasks that require scissors or tweezers instead of improvising with fingers and a knife.
  • Medic Reinforcement Tape (duct-style repair tape)
High-strength tape in a compact roll. Used to secure dressings, reinforce splints, patch torn gear, seal small leaks, reinforce grommets or tie-out points on the emergency blanket, and back up almost any weak point in your shelter or clothing.
  • Fenix PD25 flashlight
Waterproof, impact-resistant flashlight with multiple brightness levels and long runtime. Acts as a second light source if the headlamp fails, and gives a stronger, more focused beam for searching, navigation, or signaling. Best used with lithium batteries for long shelf life and cold-weather performance.
  • 30 ft of 550 paracord
Primary shelter and rigging tool: ridgelines for the Mylar blanket, tie-outs for wind, gear lashing, improvised harness points, and splint or immobilization wraps when combined with tape and the triangular bandage. One of the most versatile items in the kit.
  • Triangular bandage with safety pins
Large, clean piece of fabric that serves as a sling, pressure wrap, head covering, or anchor for dressings. Outside of medical use, it doubles as general-purpose cloth: padding, bundling, or added protection for gear.

Expedition Kit
  • Scout and Trekker kits
Includes all components of the Scout and Trekker (water, shelter, fire, light, and signal tools).
  • Clear transpiration bag
Harvest drinkable water from green vegetation when there’s no surface source—no pump, no fuel, no electronics, just sun and time.
  • MiniComp II compass
Simple, durable analog compass for bearings and deliberate movement when phones and GPS units are dead, frozen, or gone.
  • Pacer beads
Classic pace counter so you can track distance, hold a search pattern, or work back along your route instead of wandering.
  • Two 4" Cyalume chem lights
Military-standard chemical light sticks: cold-proof, waterproof, and battery-free. Use them to mark shelter, hang as low-glare area light, clip to gear for ID, or swing as a bright moving signal in rain, fog, steam, or smoke.
  • HotHands warmer
Long, steady heat to keep hands functional, support core warmth, or protect batteries from cold-related voltage drop.
  • Rescue Essentials “Nick Fixer” first-aid kit
A compact but real medical kit: bleeding control, wound care, blister/burn treatment, basic meds, tools, and PPE so you can actually treat problems instead of just covering them.
