Trekker Kit
Trekker Kit
Description
Versatile Tools and Critical Redundancy
The Trekker includes everything in the Scout and then adds the tools you need to actually work the problem in the field. It’s still sized to live in the jacket, but shifts the loadout from “I can survive the night” to “I can fix things, rig shelter, and stay operating longer if I have to.”
Where the Scout gives you the five tenets of survival—water, shelter, fire, light, and signal—in their most compact form, the Trekker strengthens those same pillars with versatile, multi-use tools. Paracord, duct tape, a triangular bandage, and a compact carabiner let you lash, hang, splint, patch, and improvise with the gear you already have on you. The carabiner also interfaces cleanly with the utility loops on the jacket, so you can clip on a light, hang chemsticks (with the Expedition), or stage gear where you can reach it fast.
The Trekker also adds critical redundancy in the two systems most likely to fail at the worst time:
- Water: chlorination–floc packets give you a chemical backup to the LifeStraw.
- Light: the Fenix flashlight backs up the headlamp with a more powerful, independent light source.
Contents
-
Scout Kit
Includes all components of the Scout (water, shelter, fire, light, and signal tools). -
MiniWire carabiner
Lightweight wire-gate carabiner for attaching gear to your jacket’s utility loops, hanging the Mylar blanket as a tarp, clipping light sticks, or creating quick connection points in a shelter or line system. -
Chlorination–flocculation packets
Chemical treatment that both clarifies and disinfects dirty or silty water. Used with or before the LifeStraw, it improves water quality, protects the filter from heavy sediment, and provides a non-mechanical backup if the filter is damaged or lost (when used as directed). -
Leatherman Micra (10-tool multitool)
Compact tool for cutting paracord, trimming and shaping tape, handling small hardware, and doing fine field repairs. Also useful for basic first-aid tasks that require scissors or tweezers instead of improvising with fingers and a knife. -
Medic Reinforcement Tape (duct-style repair tape)
High-strength tape in a compact roll. Used to secure dressings, reinforce splints, patch torn gear, seal small leaks, reinforce grommets or tie-out points on the emergency blanket, and back up almost any weak point in your shelter or clothing. -
Fenix PD25 flashlight
Waterproof, impact-resistant flashlight with multiple brightness levels and long runtime. Acts as a second light source if the headlamp fails, and gives a stronger, more focused beam for searching, navigation, or signaling. Best used with lithium batteries for long shelf life and cold-weather performance. -
30 ft of 550 paracord
Primary shelter and rigging tool: ridgelines for the Mylar blanket, tie-outs for wind, gear lashing, improvised harness points, and splint or immobilization wraps when combined with tape and the triangular bandage. One of the most versatile items in the kit. -
Triangular bandage with safety pins
Large, clean piece of fabric that serves as a sling, pressure wrap, head covering, or anchor for dressings. Outside of medical use, it doubles as general-purpose cloth: padding, bundling, or added protection for gear.
